The Person Behind the Work
Ashley K. Needham · Chattanooga, TN
My career started with type, layout, and the problem-solving side of visual communication. I fell hard for graphic design — the precision of it, the way a good choice of font or composition could change how something felt. But what pulled me toward UX was something harder to name: a deeper curiosity about human behavior — why people act the way they do, how they move through systems, and what they actually need. The intersection of design, psychology, and service.
That curiosity led me into product design, and eventually into leadership. Today, I lead UX teams working on high-impact, high-complexity problems. I specialize in bringing structure to ambiguity, clarity to complexity, and momentum to cross-functional work. I've been trusted with $500M client relationships, multi-year platform migrations, and turnaround situations where the stakes were high and the playbook didn't exist.
My leadership style is collaborative, direct, and rooted in trust. I build teams that feel safe, supported, and empowered — where people give a damn about the humans they're designing for, and about each other. I've found that the teams who have confidence in their leader are also the ones who move the fastest.
Beyond business: I'm the glass-half-full type, who thrives on new experiences and learning from others. My dream vacation involves a trailhead, an alpine lake, or a river that's just a little too wild to swim in. I collect animals (we have six), antique portraits, houseplants, and good tattoos. I thrive in the space between curiosity and craft — and I bring that energy to everything I do.
